Caring for your Earth-Dyed Wear

To preserve the vibrant colors and unique beauty of your garment or textile, we recommend the following care instructions:

Washing:

  • Hand washing is always best. Use lukewarm water and a gentle, plant-based detergent.
  • Avoid harsh chemicals like bleach. These can fade the natural dyes and damage the fibers.
  • Do not machine wash or tumble dry.

Drying:

  • Lay your garment flat to dry in a shaded area. Direct sunlight can cause fading.
  • Avoid using a dryer. The high heat can shrink the fabric and affect the print.

Additional Tips:

  • For stubborn stains, try spot-cleaning with a mild soap and water mixture before washing the entire garment.
  • Iron on low heat if needed, and always iron on the reverse side of the print.
  • Store your botanical prints in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and humidity.

Mending & Redyeing:

Accidents happen! If your garment needs mending or the colors have faded over time, please contact us at mac@runeroot.com to discuss redyeing or repair options.

By following these simple care instructions, you'll help your botanical prints retain their detail for years to come. You'll also be minimizing your impact on the environment by avoiding harsh chemicals and energy-intensive drying methods.
